    SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria 2026

    It is very essential for candidates to check if they meet all the eligibility criteria set by SSC before applying for the examination. 

    Applying for the examination without meeting all the eligibility criteria set by SSC can result in disqualification at any stage of the examination. It is always better to check all the eligibility criteria as per the latest notification for SSC CHSL.

    Nationality Requirements

    A candidate must be one of the following to be eligible to apply:

    • A citizen of India
    •  A subject of Nepal or Bhutan

    • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India
    • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia), or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India

    Note: Candidates belonging to categories other than Indian citizens may require a certificate of eligibility to be issued by the Government of India at the time of document verification.

    Age Limit for SSC CHSL 2026

    The candidates who are willing to apply for SSC CHSL 2026 must be between 18 and 27 years old as per the cut-off date mentioned in the official notification.

    Important: Candidates seeking relaxation in age limits based on SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/ESM categories must provide valid certificates during document verification. Misdeclaration of category status will result in permanent disqualification from all SSC Exams.

     Educational Qualification (Post-wise)

    Also, candidates appearing in their 12th Standard exam and awaiting results can apply. However, candidates must have the qualifying certificate before the cut-off date specified in the notification. If the results are not declared before this date, the application will be rejected.

     How to Apply for SSC CHSL 2026: Step-by-Step Guide

    The SSC CHSL 2026 Application Form will be made available online on the official website ssc.gov.in starting from 30th April 2026. There is no offline application facility. Candidates must apply through the official website. Candidates must be aware of the SSC CHSL application date to avoid any last-minute rush.

    Step 1: One Time Registration (OTR)

    The One Time Registration facility is to be completed by entering the details and proceeding with the One Time Password. A Registration ID will be generated, and this will be useful while logging in. Existing candidates do not have to register again.

    Step 2: Fill Application Form

    Enter the required details and log in with the One Time Registration ID. Enter the details and select the post and exam centers.

     Step 5: Submit and Print the Application

    Once you have completed all the steps above, you will be directed to a page where you will be required to review your complete application one last time. You will then click on the ‘Submit’ button. Finally, you will be required to download and print your application confirmation.

    Application Form Correction Window 

    The SSC offers a small correction window for a short period after the last date for submission of applications. This is where applicants can make corrections to their submitted applications as per the SSC CHSL Notification.

    Applicants can make corrections to their photographs or signatures. The fees for these changes will be Rs. 200 for the first attempt and Rs. 500 for the second. However, changes to preferences or categories are not permitted. This means applicants will have to be extremely careful while filling out their applications to avoid additional fees.

    SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2026: Tier 1 and Tier 2

    The SSC CHSL 2026 exam will be a two-tier exam. Tier 1 will be a qualifying exam for all applicants. Tier 2 will be used to determine the results for all applicants.

    SSC CHSL Tier 2 Skill Test and Typing Test Details

    The Typing Test and Skill Test will be conducted on the same day as Tier 2 Session 1, in Session 2. Errors in the typing test will be up to 2 decimal places. Those candidates who fail in the Skill Test and Typing Test will not be considered for the final selection, even if they have scored high in the objective test.

     SSC CHSL Syllabus 2026: Tier 1 and Tier 2 (Topic-wise)

    SSC CHSL Selection Process 2026

    The SSC CHSL Selection Process 2026 will include two stages of computer-based tests followed by document verification. No interview will be conducted in the SSC CHSL selection process. The selection will purely be based on the candidate's performance in the objective tests.

    Stage 1: Tier 1 (Qualifying Test)

    Tier 1 will be a computer-based test, and it will be a qualifying test. Marks obtained in Tier 1 will not be included in the final merit list. Students must obtain a minimum qualifying mark:

    Stage 2: Tier 2 (Final Merit Stage)

    Tier 2 will decide the final selection.

    • General: 30% (60/200)
    • OBC/EWS: 25% (50/200)
    • SC/ST/PwBD/ESM: 20% (40/200)
    • Session 1: Objective questions (Maths, Reasoning, English, GA, Computer)
    • Session 2: Skill Test / Typing Test (qualifying)

    The candidates have to pass both tests.

    Stage 3: Document Verification

    The candidates will be called for document verification and have to submit the original documents. The preferences will be finalized here.

    Final Selection & Merit List

    The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in Tier 2. The post will be allocated based on rank, preference, and vacancy.

    No Interview in SSC CHSL

    There is no interview stage in SSC CHSL. Selection is purely based on performance in Tier 2.

     SSC CHSL Admit Card 2026

    The SSC CHSL Tier 1 Admit Card 2026 will be available on the official websites of the respective SSC regional offices 2 to 3 weeks before the exam date, as per the SSC CHSL notification.

    The admit card is a must for the candidates, and no candidate will be allowed entry into the examination hall without it.

    The candidates must download it in time and verify the information provided on it to avoid last-minute issues.

     SSC CHSL Answer Key 2026

    The official SSC CHSL 2026 answer key will be released on the website ssc.gov.in within 1-2 weeks of the Tier 1 exam. The answer key can be used by the candidates to calculate their score and get an idea of their position in relation to the cut-off.

    How to Raise an Objection Against the Answer Key

    If the candidate feels that the answer key provided by the SSC is not correct, then they can raise objections. The objections must be submitted within the specified date. The objection fee for the exam is Rs. 100. 

    The objections must be submitted along with the fee. Without the fee, the objections cannot be accepted. The answer key will be released once all the objections are reviewed. The marking of the answers will be done on the basis of the answer key.

    SSC CHSL Result

    The SSC CHSL Tier 1 Result 2026 will be declared on the website ssc.gov.in. The candidate can access his/her SSC CHSL 2026 Tier 1 Result by logging in with the help of the registration id and date of birth. Along with the result, the marks obtained by the candidate will also be declared. It is important for the candidate to pass the cut-off for the Tier 1 exam in order to proceed for the Tier 2 exam.

    The first promotion from the post of LDC to UDC happens after 5 to 7 years of service. The promotion can be accelerated by passing the departmental examinations. The employees receive annual increments of 3% of the basic pay every year along with the revision in DA every six months. These increments add to the overall salary package over the course of time.

    SSC CHSL Document Verification 2026

    Shortlisted candidates from the Tier 2 merit list are required to undergo the Document Verification Round. This is the final stage before the actual appointment.
