SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern 2026
The CBT (Tier 1) stenographer exam has 3 sections namely General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness and English Language and Comprehension. The exam duration is 2 hours with a total of 200 questions for 200 marks. For every incorrect answer, there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks.

Important points about the exam pattern:
- There is NO Mathematics section in the SSC Stenographer. This is a commonly searched and frequently misunderstood point. The exam does not test Maths at all.
- The English section carries the highest weight (100 questions, 100 marks). However, strong English preparation is the key to this exam.
- The exam is bilingual (Hindi and English) for the Reasoning and GA sections. The English section can only be attempted in English.
- Both Grade C and Grade D candidates appear for the same CBT. Therefore, there is no separate paper.
